ವಿಶ್ವಕಪ್ ಟೂರ್ನಿಯ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಪಂದ್ಯದಲ್ಲೂ ವಿಜಯ್ ಶಂಕರ್ ಕಳಪೆ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಮುಂದುವರೆದಿದೆ. ಅಂಬಟಿ ರಾಯುಡು ಬದಲು ತಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಶಂಕರ್ ನಾಯಕನ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತಹ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ತೋರುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದೀಗ ಟ್ವಿಟರಿಗರೂ ಶಂಕರ್ ಆಟವನ್ನು ಟ್ರೋಲ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಕಾರ್ಡಿಫ್[ಮೇ.29]: ವಿಶ್ವಕಪ್ ಟೂರ್ನಿಗೆ ಭಾರತ ತಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಜಯ್ ಶಂಕರ್ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಆರಂಭದಿಂದಲೂ ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಗ್ರಾಸವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದೀಗ ಬಾಂಗ್ಲಾದೇಶ ವಿರುದ್ಧದ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಪಂದ್ಯದಲ್ಲೂ ವಿಜಯ್ ಶಂಕರ್ ಕೇವಲ 2 ರನ್ ಬಾರಿಸಿ ವಿಕೆಟ್ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ತಂಡ ತಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲಿಟ್ಟ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹುಸಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ವಿಜಯ್ ಶಂಕರ್ ಕೇವಲ 9 ಏಕದಿನ ಪಂದ್ಯವನ್ನಾಡಿ ವಿಶ್ವಕಪ್ ಟೂರ್ನಿಗೆ ಟಿಕೆಟ್ ಗಿಟ್ಟಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಇನ್ನು ನ್ಯೂಜಿಲೆಂಡ್ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಮೊದಲ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸ ಪಂದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಡಲು ಶಂಕರ್ ಗೆ ಅವಕಾಶ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಎರಡನೇ ಪಂದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಕೈಚೆಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಟೀಂ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ ಆರಂಭಿಕರಾದ ರೋಹಿತ್-ಧವನ್ ಹಾಗೂ ನಾಯಕ ವಿರಾಟ್ ಕೊಹ್ಲಿ ಪೆವಿಲಿಯನ್ ಸೇರಿದಾಗ ತಂಡದ ಮೊತ್ತ 83/3 ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ವೇಳೆ ಕ್ರೀಸ್ ಗಿಳಿದ ಶಂಕರ್ 7 ಎಸೆತಗಳನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸಿ ಕೇವಲ 2 ರನ್ ಬಾರಿಸಿ ವಿಕೆಟ್ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
