ಪುಣೆ(ಜು.28): ಭಾರತದ ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಮಿಂಟನ್ ದಂತಕತೆ ನಂದು ನಾಟೆಕರ್(88) ಪುಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿಂದು ಬುಧವಾರ(ಜು.28) ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಭಾರತ ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಮಿಂಟನ್ ಇತಿಹಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ನಂದು ನಾಟೆಕರ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮಹತ್ತರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಾನವಿದೆ.
ನಂದು ನಾಟೆಕರ್ ವಿದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಮಿಂಟನ್ ಟೂರ್ನಿ ಜಯಿಸಿದ ಮೊದಲ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಶಟ್ಲರ್ ಎನ್ನುವ ದಾಖಲೆ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ನಾಟೆಕರ್ 1956ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲೇಷ್ಯಾದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಸೆಲ್ಲಂಗರ್ ಇಂಟರ್‌ನ್ಯಾಷನಲ್ ಟೂರ್ನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಾಂಪಿಯನ್ ಆಗುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು. 1954ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಆಲ್‌ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ ಓಪನ್‌ ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಮಿಂಟನ್ ಟೂರ್ನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಂದು ನಾಟೆಕರ್ ಕ್ವಾರ್ಟರ್‌ ಫೈನಲ್‌ ಹಂತ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿದ್ದರು. ಇದಾದ ಬಳಿಕ 1980 ಮತ್ತು 1981ರಲ್ಲಿ ಡಬಲ್ಸ್ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಯಭೇರಿ ಬಾರಿಸಿದ್ದರು.

ಇನ್ನು ಅರ್ಜುನ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಮೊದಲ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಪಟು ಎನ್ನುವ ಹೆಗ್ಗಳಿಕೆಯು ನಂದು ಅವರದ್ದು. 1961ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಂದು ಅರ್ಜುನ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿಗೆ ಭಾಜನರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಇನ್ನು 1965ರಲ್ಲಿ ಜಮೈಕಾದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಕಾಮನ್‌ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಗೇಮ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಂದು ನಾಟೆಕರ್ ಭಾರತವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ನ್ಯಾಷನಲ್‌ ಬ್ಯಾಡ್ಮಿಂಟನ್ ಚಾಂಪಿಯನ್‌ಶಿಪ್‌ನ ಪುರುಷರ ಸಿಂಗಲ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ 5 ಬಾರಿ, ಪುರುಷರ ಡಬಲ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ 6 ಬಾರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಮಿಶ್ರ ಡಬಲ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ 5 ಬಾರಿ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಜಯಿಸಿದ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರು.
ನಾಟೆಕರ್ ಅವರ ಪುತ್ರ ಗೌರವ್ ನಾಟೆಕರ್ ಟೆನಿಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. 1994ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿರೋಶಿಮಾದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಏಷ್ಯನ್ ಗೇಮ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಲಿಯಾಂಡರ್ ಪೇಸ್‌ ಜತೆಗೂಡಿ ಟೆನಿಸ್‌ ಡಬಲ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿನ್ನದ ಪದಕಕ್ಕೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಕ್ಕಿದ್ದರು.
ನಂದು ನಾಟೆಕರ್ ನಿಧನಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ನರೇಂದ್ರ ಮೋದಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ದಿಗ್ಗಜರು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಬನಿ ಮಿಡಿದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
