ಮೊಹಾಲಿ(ಜೂ.19): ಭಾರತದ ದಿಗ್ಗಜ ಅಥ್ಲೀಟ್ ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಸಿಂಗ್(91) ಜೂನ್ 18, 2021ರ ತಡರಾತ್ರಿ ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕೋವಿಡ್ ಎದುರಿನ ಹೋರಾಟದಲ್ಲಿ 'ಪ್ಲೈಯಿಂಗ್ ಸಿಖ್' ಖ್ಯಾತಿಯ ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಶರಣಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕಾಮನ್‌ವೆಲ್ತ್ ಗೇಮ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲ ಚಿನ್ನ ಗೆದ್ದುಕೊಟ್ಟ ಸಾಧಕ ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಸಿಂಗ್ ನಿಧನಕ್ಕೆ ದೇಶದ ನಾನಾ ಮೂಲೆಗಳಿಂದ ಸಂತಾಪ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗಿದೆ.
ದಿಗ್ಗಜ ಓಟಗಾರ ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಸಿಂಗ್ 1956, 1960 ಹಾಗೂ 1964ರ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್‌ ಕ್ರೀಡಾಕೂಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ 1960ರ ಮಾಸ್ಕೋ ಒಲಿಂಪಿಕ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕೂದಲೆಳೆ ಅಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪದಕ ಗೆಲ್ಲುವ ಅವಕಾಶದಿಂದ ವಂಚಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಇದಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೇ 1958 ಹಾಗೂ 1962ರ ಏಷ್ಯನ್‌ ಗೇಮ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ 4 ಚಿನ್ನದ ಪದಕಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೊರಳೊಡ್ಡಿದ್ದರು.

ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಸಾಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿ ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಿದೆ. ಇನ್ನು ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಜೀವನಾಧಾರಿತ ಚಿತ್ರ 'ಭಾಗ್ ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಭಾಗ್' ಚಿತ್ರವು ಜನಮನ ಗೆಲ್ಲುವಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಬಾಲಿವುಡ್ ನಟ ಫರ್ಹಾನ್ ಅಖ್ತರ್, ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಪಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಜೀವ ತುಂಬಿದ್ದರು.

ದೇಶದ ದಿಗ್ಗಜ ಅಥ್ಲೀಟ್ ಮಿಲ್ಖಾ ಸಿಂಗ್ ನಿಧನಕ್ಕೆ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ದಿಗ್ಗಜ ಸಚಿನ್‌ ತೆಂಡುಲ್ಕರ್, ಸೌರವ್ ಗಂಗೂಲಿ, ವಿರೇಂದ್ರ ಸೆಹ್ವಾಗ್, ರವಿ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿ, ವಿವಿಎಸ್ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವು ಹಿರಿಕಿರಿಯ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟಿಗರು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜಾಲತಾಣಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ನುಡಿನಮನ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
