ವಯೋಸಹಜ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಗಳಿಂದ ಅವರು ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. 1958ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಬೈ ಪರ ಪ್ರಥಮ ದರ್ಜೆ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್‌ಗೆ ಪಾದಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಅಜಿತ್, 1966ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ ತಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಲಿಟ್ಟರು. 37 ಟೆಸ್ಟ್, 2 ಏಕದಿನ ಪಂದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ಆಡಿದರು. 3ನೇ ಕ್ರಮಾಂಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ಯಾಟ್ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅವರು, ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮ ಸ್ಲಿಪ್ ಫೀಲ್ಡರ್ ಆಗಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
ಮುಂಬೈ[ಆ.16]: ವಿದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ ಟೆಸ್ಟ್ ಗೆಲ್ಲಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟ, ಭಾರತ ಆಡಿದ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲ ಏಕದಿನ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಪಂದ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಯಕರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಅಜಿತ್ ವಾಡೇಕರ್[77 ವರ್ಷ] ಬುಧವಾರ ರಾತ್ರಿ ನಿಧನರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಮುಂಬೈನ ಜಸ್‌ಲೋಕ್ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

90ರ ದಶಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ ತಂಡದ ಕೋಚ್, ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕರಾಗಿಯೂ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಆಟಗಾರ, ನಾಯಕ, ಕೋಚ್, ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ, ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಸಮಿತಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ಹೀಗೆ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹಲವು ಪಾತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ ಕೆಲವೇ ಕೆಲವು ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟಿಗರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಜಿತ್ ಸಹ ಒಬ್ಬರು.
